Blood is Currency

Last month, I had a conversation with two former Satan worshippers - Riaan and Adele. (You’ll hear their stories on a podcast very soon). One of the things they said really stuck out to me; they said “blood is currency” when describing their satanic rituals and sacrifices. Blood is currency? That statement was shocking and very strange.

But the more I thought about, the more I realized this is exactly what it says in the Bible.

Our February MA memory verse is Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Wages. Payment. Currency. We’ve been bought with a price (1 Cor 6:20). Our sins have all been paid for.

Blood truly is currency. It’s the currency that bought us and saved us! Jesus’ blood on the cross paid for our sins. It turns out that viewing blood as currency isn’t something sinister or demonic that the satan worshippers came up with. They’re simply mimicking the laws of God.

The Patched Bible verse for February is Hebrews 9:22, “In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”

This is the entire reason that Jesus died on the cross. If God simply erased our sins without demanding payment then He would not be just. It was his justice that demanded full payment for all our sins. But it was His love that made the payment of blood in our place!

Thank you God for paying for our sins with Your perfect currency!
