Clear communication is an essential aspect of good leadership.
Recently, I came across this story which illustrates the importance and effectiveness of concise communication.
"Mayday! Mayday!"
Perhaps you recognize that distress call. The fact that even children have a rough idea of what it means demonstrates the importance of good communication.
The Mayday distress code was created by London airport radio officer Frederick Mockfond in 1923. His boss challenged him to think up an emergency distress code that would be easily understood. Much of the air traffic at the time was between London and Paris, so Mockford proposed the expression Mayday. It was easy to say, and it sounded like the French term for "Help me." Mayday is still used today all over the world.
Simplicity and clarity, those two elements are essential to good communication.
And don't forget this: Good communication is as much about how you listen and respond as it is about what you say. Find ways to communicate your point of view as clearly as possible.
When conflict hits, remember "Mayday!" It's your cue to communicate simply and clearly.
This is true in sharing the Gospel as well.
God created the world. We broke it with sin. Jesus fixed it at the cross and with the empty tomb that first Easter Sunday.
If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Rom 10:9
