Have you noticed how unpopular New Year’s Resolutions have become? Every year I hear more and more people knocking them. “I don’t do New Year’s Resolutions. They never work.”
But I’ve never understood why the NYR became so uncool exactly. I mean I get the fact that it is truly hilarious to regular gym goers that the gyms are all packed in January and back to their standard level of regulars again by February, but I guess I look at it a different way.
Is it better to try and fail or to never try at all? Is it better to set big goals for self improvement or to accept that you’ll never change?
A new calendar year is a perfect time for a fresh start. So is a birthday and starting a new year of your life. So is a sunrise and the start of a new day. We all need a fresh start - lots of them. And a new year is the perfect time to get back up when the world has knocked you down.
The New Year’s Resolution might need a new name. But whether you call it a resolution, a goal, or an MA Commitment, we should never stop improving. We should never stop striving to better ourselves.
Every Tribesman should make a plan to improve each year. Physically and spiritually. And every Tribesmen should encourage those around him who are trying to do the same.
Don’t look down on those who are striving to improve. Come alongside them and help them reach their goal!
