Isaiah "Tank" Baker shares his journey from an incredibly challenging upbringing to joining the Army and finding Jesus. Raised in a financially struggling family, he moved between schools, lacked guidance, and dealt with his father’s absence due to prison. During his troubled teen years, he experimented with drugs and alcohol. In college, on a wrestling scholarship, he faced academic probation and lost his scholarship after his step father’s overdose. Tank coped with grief through heavy drinking and chaotic living, but after years of trying to find purpose after his stepdad's passing, he joined the Army to escape his destructive path. He became a medic, served in Afghanistan, and eventually found faith with his wife in Texas, marking a turning point in their spiritual journey. This week David Eubank from the Free Burma Rangers (FBR) joins the podcast to talk about his missionary calling. David talks about doing justice, but we need to avoid revenge. While not easy, we need to instead correct the injustice with love. FBR respond by getting the news out in war torn areas (Burma, Sudan, Kurdistan, Iraq, and Ukraine) and supplying first aid treatment, while sharing and showing the love of Jesus. There are three rules in FBR: You have to do if for love, You can't run if others can not run (don't be a coward), and Be able to read and write.
