Listen to full episodeDave Grossman, a retired Lieutenant Colonel, renowned author, and speaker, shares his insights on spiritual warfare, the "sheepdog" analogy, and the critical role of sleep in maintaining resilience. Through his experiences and teachings, he brings attention to how men can embody both protectors and caregivers, fostering a balanced and loving environment in their homes while being ready to respond to threats. Grossman encourages men to channel their inner sheepdog: - Self-control is key. Losing your temper is akin to losing bodily control—there is never an appropriate moment for it. - Men are encouraged to switch from protector mode (sheepdog) to nurturing mode (family dog), embodying gentleness and patience at home. Ultimately, Grossman's insights provide a comprehensive framework for men to balance their roles as protectors and nurturers. By fostering self-control, engaging in spiritual warfare, and prioritizing sleep, they can become effective sheepdogs for their families and communities. The transformation into both a gentle caregiver and a resolute protector is not just possible but essential in building strong families and resilient communities. Listen to full episodeIsaiah "Tank" Baker shares his journey from an incredibly challenging upbringing to joining the Army and finding Jesus. Raised in a financially struggling family, he moved between schools, lacked guidance, and dealt with his father’s absence due to prison. During his troubled teen years, he experimented with drugs and alcohol. In college, on a wrestling scholarship, he faced academic probation and lost his scholarship after his step father’s overdose. Tank coped with grief through heavy drinking and chaotic living, but after years of trying to find purpose after his stepdad's passing, he joined the Army to escape his destructive path. He became a medic, served in Afghanistan, and eventually found faith with his wife in Texas, marking a turning point in their spiritual journey. Listen to full episodeThe good news of Jesus doesn't make any sense unless we first understand the depths of the bad news. We're all sinners who deserve separation from God for all eternity. That's some bad news right there. Sadly, many churches in America are afraid of giving the bad news. They want to be popular and preach feel-good messages that won't offend anyone. But a church that tries to please everyone ends up pleasing no one. Find a healthy church where the pastor isn't afraid to talk about sin and hell and why it is that we need the good news of Christ. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mensalliancetribe/support
